In episode 83 we discuss the latest tech news including Facebook now allowing businesses to post job openings on their pages and new cutting edge technology allowing disabled people to type with their thoughts.
We also interview Professor Andy Molinsky, Professor at Brandeis University and author of “REACH: A New Strategy to Help You Step Outside Your Comfort Zone, Rise to the Challenge, and Build Confidence” about his research that has revealed that the reason people find it difficult to step outside their comfort zone usually comes down to one or more of the following 5 elements:
The road diverges, which road to do you take?
Do you take the avoidance road or do you take the ‘I’ll try this’ road – the ‘giving-it-a-go’ road?
I think that’s the tipping point because when you actually give something a go and you actually try it out, you kind of make it your own a little bit too. People are often very surprised, I talk about it in the book, the epiphanies people have: ‘You know what, this actually wasn’t as hard as I thought it was, and I’m actually a little bit more capable than I thought I was’. On the other side of fear there’s some pretty amazing discoveries that can happen. But nothing will happen if you don’t take the leap.
