If you are new to Twitter we understand how challenging it can be to grow your account and gain followers. It is difficult to build momentum when the account has very few followers. This is a classic catch-22 situation. The fewer followers you have the harder it is to gain new followers and the more followers you have the easier it is to gain new followers.

1. Utilize Your Current Connections.

Did you know that Twitter allows you to search your email address book to find your connections who are currently on Twitter? This will save valuable time having to manually search through your personal databases to connect with your network on Twitter.

Use your Gmail, AOL, Outlook and Yahoo email connections to find the Twitter accounts of people you already know.

Steps to utilize your current connections:

  1. Login to TwitterLog Into Twitter Screenshot

  2. Click the #Discover tab!Discover Tab On Twitter

2. Add Your Twitter @Username to Your Email Signature

Incorporating your @username into your email signature is a perfect way for your contacts to connect with you on Twitter when they receive an email from you.

It is a good idea to make sure your Twitter @username is clickable direct from your email signature:

From within most email clients, you can edit your signature by highlighting the @username. Then click the link icon and paste your link in the text box.

  1. Get The ‘Official Twitter Follow’ Button On Your Website or Blog

Twitter gives all users access to the “official follow button”. Convenience is the key: adding this feature allows visitors to your website or blog to directly follow you on Twitter without needing to leave your webpage. This is a powerful way to leverage any website/blog traffic to help build your Twitter following.

Below are some examples of Twitter follow buttons:
